Danielle decided to come up with a pie that was a cross between an American dessert pie and a good ol' Christmas fruit mince pie - and this is her creation.
The Piper Christmas pie has all those lovely Christmas flavours with sultanas, raisins and currents soaked all day long in brandy, with almonds, Heilala vanilla, spices and lemon and orange zest, all in a buttery flaky crust.
We like this pie with a little brandied custard, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Regardless, it's delicious!
The 9-1/2" pie serves 6-7 people depending on the size of the slice.
